Basking in the sun and tanning is good for morale but harmful to the skin. It is essential to protect you from UVA, UVB and IR rays with sunscreen . But the choice is great, how you find them? What clue choose? Find the product you need.
The Sun
Solar radiation consists of UV ( ultraviolet ), not visible to the eye: UVB are stopped by the filter glass, UVA through the glass and infrared (IR) diffuse heat.

– UVB act at the level of the epidermis.
Pros: essential for the synthesis of vitamin D, necessary for growth, they allow sunbathing .
The -: responsible for sunburn , they can cause cell mutations.
– UVA rays penetrate the dermis.
The pros: they give an immediate but temporary tan.
The -: they generate free radicals that cause cell damage and support fibers, causing photoaging.
– The IR go to the hypodermis, most profnde layer of the skin.
The pros: they give the feeling of nice heat.
The -: they may cause skin dryness.

The Solar Radiation
Quality of solar radiation varies with latitude, season, cloud cover, altitude, pollution and time of day. Sunshine is a combination of direct radiation, solar radiation scattered in the atmosphere, and the radiation reflected by the ground (snow reflects 80% sand and 20% water to 30%).
Before choosing sunscreen , we must also ask: what are the conditions of sunshine? Following different places and latitudes, they are extreme high altitude or in the tropics (where the radiation UV is vertical), and require maximum protection.

How to Protect Yourself?
Several Factors are Taken into Account.
What is your skin type called phototype? It comes from I to IV according to the color of hair , skin and ability to tan.
Skin types 1 and 2: the milky complexions, red, tan without burning and skinned Nordic type, which slightly tan.
Phototype 3: brown to pale complexion who tan gradually taking sunburn .
Phototype 4: dark skin more resistant to tan without burning.
More skin is more clear degree of protection should be high.

How to Choose?
Choose a suitable cream which, in the short term to avoid sunburn and protect the skin from UVB and long-term, preserves the skin protecting the skin from UVA aging. Thus, you will limit the risk of skin cancer.

What Protection?
The European recommendation labeling of sunscreen products was issued by AFSSAPS (French Agency for Sanitary Safety of Health Products) in January 2007.
There are four categories of protection and protection factors:
Weak protection, UVB 6 to 14, 6 or 10 labeling
Average protection, 15-29 UVB labeling 20 or 25
High protection, UVB 30-59, 30 or 50 labeling
Very high protection, over 60 UVB 50 + labeling. (The latter is given to children, women pregnant, sensitive or sensitive skin).

What Texture?
For the face, choose a non-comedogenic cream fluid, and for the body, choisisssez milks or sprays (forget oils, whose texture is not possible to incorporate performance filters).
Our advice: Has a strong clue to the thick texture unpleasant and difficult to implement, often leaving white marks product, choose a product with lower degree of protection but easier to apply.

How Often to Rub Sunscreen?
Must follow a few guidelines to be sure cautiously tan and smooth.
Avoid exposure during the hottest hours, between 12h and 16h.
Reapply the sunscreen every two hours.

You are in the mountains, to ski in altitude, close protection with high index (50 or more) is required. The sun and snow reflection is very strong. Protect your eyes well with glasses of ice. This is valid also for mountain hikers in summer.

You are in the tropics, on the edge of the water and the white sand, put a sunscreen high protection arrival. Once you start to tan, reduce the index 40 and 20 but still remain cautious, not down the other below 15 because the reverb is strong on the water and on the sand, under the same umbrella.

You are at the edge of the sea in the South or in Britain, protect yourself because there is a max sun but also wind and reflection of water and white sand. Start with a 40 index for the face and body 30 and continue your holiday with lower indices once you’re tanned.

You are in the desert, the body is covered and face protected by a hat , but that does not stop the sun from burning. Apply a cream face 40 or more and do not forget to protect your hands and forearms with a body cream SPF 30 or higher.

You are on the terrace of a cafe or on a bench in a park in spring, remember to protect you as the rays strike even in town. An SPF 15 is sufficient for the face and neck. Keep a tube of cream in your bag to recover if you stay in the sun for several hours.

You break a deckchair in the garden, have the reflex sunscreen , at least 20, as the sun heats even in the country and especially in the summer. Beware as the first rays of spring burning even through the clouds.

You are already tanned, that does not stop vigilance. A softer protection is to consider the body and the face, especially if you return to the sea in the summer because it is the sun but also the wind.
